美国大学历来特别重视图书馆建设，为收录最权威的信息，图书馆的文献和信息系统每年更新，研究型大学图书馆年平均采购经费可达数千万美元。本文阐述了大学图书馆的价值和美国大学图书馆馆藏资源建设的趋势，并对西弗吉尼亚大学图书馆的馆藏资源建设实践进行了案例研究。

目前图书馆缺乏有效的工具来统计、分析业务数据，以便为图书馆的决策提供有效支持，为此设计一个基于业务数据的决策支持系统，并在此基础上构建数据仓储模型，实现图书馆决策的智能化。

每隔一年,美国大学与研究图书馆协会(ACRL)的研究规划与评议委员会就大学图书馆相关的高等教育前沿趋势编写一份报告。本次ACRL前沿趋势报告中的主题为一些希望了解新资料、扩充知识面的读者所熟知,而其他读者也可从中知晓个人经验之外的趋势。这是我们当前技术和教育环境趋势的本质:变化是持续存在的,但是它以不同的速度影响不同的图书馆。2018年的前沿趋势报告分享了几个核心的主题,包括市场力量、技术和政治环境对图书馆的影响。

2018年10月22日-24日,第三届"全球化视野·大学图书馆馆长论坛"在上海财经大学举办。来自美国、加拿大、英国、荷兰、新加坡、澳大利亚、中国香港、中国台湾、中国内地的大学图书馆馆长,以及联机计算机图书馆中心(OCLC)、图情杂志社的专家共60余人出席论坛,围绕大学图书馆组织转型的方向与路径、资源共享的模式与机制、空间再造的整合与利用等主题展开研讨,共同探索新时代大学图书馆的重塑之道。
