Chinese Culture and Heritage: A Wikidata Project

A Wikidata project on Chinese culture and heritage presented at the LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group Meeting on December 12, 2023. The talk provided an overview of the project’s scope, primary sources, data models for poets and historical places, and the Wikidata properties and items created by the Group. It then delved into describing cultural materials such as the Chinese women poet collection, along with the challenges of representing cultural heritage. Following the discussion on describing cultural heritage, the talk emphasized data preparation and processing, including batch Processing using Pywikibot and manual review. Finally, it shed light on future work to further enhance the Wikidata entries for Chinese cultural heritage collections.
