Title
Returning to work during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Report on the ALA Core Metadata Interest Group Meeting, ALA Annual Conference 2022.
Description
This article highlights the discussion on returning to work during the COVID-19 pandemic, held at the Core Metadata Interest Group Meeting at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Washington, DC in June 2022. The discussion involved metadata practitioners from a variety of institutions, including academic libraries, public libraries, Library of Congress, and OCLC. Guided by prepared discussion questions, the attendees shared their experiences and perspectives on returning from remote work to the “new normal” and discussed adaptations to the challenges encountered in the new work environment. The discussion session provided a venue to learn how these challenges and opportunities were being handled in cataloging and metadata units in various institutions. Through the discussion, we hope our attendees will be able to gain valuable takeaways by learning from each other’s experiences and establishing the best practices in their institutions.
