From Panic to Process: Developing Workflow and Selection Criteria for Accessing Text and Data Mining Corpora

Title

From Panic to Process: Developing Workflow and Selection Criteria for Accessing Text and Data Mining Corpora

Description

At the University of Houston Libraries, every request for data, text collections or access to text mining environments resulted in panic! There was no established workflow and steps had to be retraced and reestablished each time a new request came in. Also, the Libraries offered additional services and support around these materials that were not integrated with our existing workflows and connections. This poster presentation will explore the development of, and resulting workflow and selection criteria developed to support our acquisitions of TDM related resources, integrate our services throughout the process, and launch a small scale program to support researchers in getting access to the materials that would support this kind of research.
