Abstract
The rapid integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into higher education has prompted academic libraries to develop support resources for students and faculty. This proposal presents a content analysis of public-facing library guides (LibGuides) on AI literacy from the 29 university members of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL). It investigates how these guides operationalize AI literacy, moving beyond basic tool descriptions to address critical evaluation, ethical application, and practical skill development. By mapping guide content against the newly created Digital Education Council AI Literacy Framework (Digital Education Council, 2025), this study identifies emerging best practices, thematic trends, and significant gaps in current library AI literacy support. As the first pan-Canadian study of its kind, it offers a timely snapshot and a benchmarking tool for libraries developing or refining their own AI literacy initiatives.
