Abstract

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are emerging technologies that continue to grow and evolve. In the past three years, VR and AR have begun to be integrated in the teaching and learning process in higher education. In this poster, the author will cover basic concepts of VR and AR, including how they are defined, and what the difference is. Popular VR and AR equipment, and how they can be used to support learning will be introduced. The author will also highlight some prominent VR and AR labs and their programs in higher education, with a focus on VR and AR services in libraries. Finally, trends for using VR and AR in higher education will be discussed, so as related issues need to be considered if your library would like to start a VR/AR program.
